Rules of Email Marketing - Part 2

You are aware of the first five thumb rules of your Email Marketing. The last five are crucial too as they help in ensuring that your mails are delivered to the inbox and not filtered off mid way.
The last five rules are

  1. To ensure that your mails are delivered, you may start your mail with message that says that ‘to ensure that you do not miss out on any of our mails, you may add our info@companyname.com to your address book.
  2. Avoid sending mails from names like info, subscribers, news, administrator etc. Try using names of people working with you and keep it consistent. A reader decides to open your mail or not in a fraction of a second. Unless your name is familiar to them, they will not open the mail.
  3. Some can receive only text messages and some HTML messages. Ensure that your messages are both in HTML as well as in text format.
  4. To ensure that your mails are not filtered by the spam filters, make sure that you do not use all caps and exclamation marks in your subject line.
  5. Build your list at every opportunity you have. Use sign up forms, call to action buttons and everything possible to ensure your customers come back to you.

Be the first with Market Research

Market research is not just looking around at the market and planning your next move. Many businesses are under the impression that, if they look at what their competitors are doing, then they would get a fair idea of the market. But unfortunately, it’s not that simple. You have to spend some time and put in some efforts to understand what is happening in the market and planning ahead of it.

  • Who is your target audience?
  • What is their requirement?
  • When do they need it?
  • Which is the best place to sell it?
  • How do you take your product to your target audience?
  • What is the reason behind this need?
  • What is your competitor’s next step?
  • What are the changing market trends?
The biggest mistake committed by most of the companies is that, they track their competitors. When the competitor launches ‘Product A’, you launch product A1 which will act as competition to Product A. Doing this, all that you do is follow your competitors. Its called as launching a Duplicate.

Why not be the first one at every step? Market Research does not promote you in mocking your competitor but will help in keeping you updated about your competitor’s next move. Tracking this, you can plan your next step in advance, and be ahead of your competitors.

When a Market Research professional does this job, he gets involved in collecting, recording and making sense of all the available information which will help a business unit to understand its market. The research will help in answering questions such as –

Are you getting personal with your clients?

Don't you feel good when somebody talks to you by addressing your name. Similarly, just imagine all your conversations with your customers are addressed with their name. How good they would feel.

We have found that our best results in e-mail marketing are closely coupled to how well we customize the content. Based on the context, we use e-mail in a variety of ways. Primarily, we’re trying to help our users take the next step in their next purchase. For example, if buyers searched for and looked at an item but did not purchase it, the goal is to help them find a similar product and complete the transaction at very attractive price. If they lost something, we want to help them find another item like the one they lost at a great price.

There is, of course, a balance to be struck. Not every interaction can be entirely personalized; we would quickly be repeating the same message if we relied only on personalization. As a result, we mix personalized messages with popularity-based messages. Even here, though, we try to be targeted, letting buyers’ activity help us understand the best categories in which to recommend merchandise.

6 common mistakes on landing page

Despite having a great, well thought landing page you are always failing to capture leads as much as you deserve. There are many mistakes which happen in the landing page design. However, certain things which shouldn't be included in the perfect landing page, when done it does make a difference. At times the wrong thing might work perfectly well for certain businesses, and many a times, it’s just opposite.

However, certain rules remain constant for all. Many companies to save up their expenses use local professionals to create landing pages, which usually lands nowhere. Not in the search engine and not even in the minds of the customers.

So what are the biggest mistakes made while designing a landing page? OnlineLeads lists out the most common mistakes regularly made on landing pages. This includes
  1. Inclusion of the main navigation. This is a distraction and may lead your customers to escape and land on some other page before they get lost
  2. Not matching the Headline of the Landing Page to the Corresponding CTA – this is important because it is the one which show the link between the visit and the form filling
  3. Too much of content - Ever heard of the adage less is more. It is perfect for the landing pages. Lesser the content better does it work
  4. No specific benefits of the offer are spoken. This is what happens in most of the landing pages which have everything but the benefits of the offer.
  5. The social sharing buttons are missing. And even if the image exits, they are not linked.
  6. Companies end up designing just one Landing- Ideally when it comes to landing pages, it’s always better to have more.

Are your landing pages news jacked?

One of the best ways of being on top in the business is by being in the news. Remember when Kate Middleton got married in April of 2011, her wedding dress was the talk of the town. No matter what the forte of each designer was, they came up with the similar wedding dresses to promote them in style.

All the headlines, tags and descriptions had Kate’s taste etched into it. Why? Because Kate and her wedding dress was in use and everybody were trying to newsjack this event.

When something is buzzing big time, it creates high demand. Companies often leverage newsjacking for this type of technique and it works very well for offers, too.

Definitely in a B2B business you cannot talk about the wedding dress design, however you can talk about how it was marketed and it worked well for the brand name. When your offers are newsjacked, you can optimize your landing page and generate a lot of prospective leads.

OnlineLeads can help you generate more leads when you speak about your strengths in your offer.

Did you thank your customer?

Yes. Although we are taught to thank all those who show or express their gratitude towards us in cash or kind, this is often forgotten when we grow up. In businesses we take our customers for granted. We do the business but forget to thank them for choosing us.

Just imagine how difficult it would be for our customers to take the decision and chose us over so many of our competitors. Don’t they deserve a thank you atleast?

Having a thank you page with navigation to your main webpage is essential. When someone completes a form on your website, don’t stop there. Increasing engagement is important for marketers so that prospects turn into loyal fans.

Once someone reaches a thank you page - the page that a visitor arrives on after completing a form, you can use that space as an opportunity to promote more offers and content.

Offers that cannot be missed

The offers in your webpage which boasts of the success of your customers will succeed only when the offers are done well. An amazing and unavoidable offer holds the key to your success as well as your customers.

Marketers are humans and so are our customers. And it’s very easy to lure a human into buying something by speaking about the benefits he would gain by just the purchase. The offers are designed in such a way that its ultimate goal is to get people to say “yes” to our offers.

OnlineLeads in his lead marketing package makes its offers exclusive, scarce, and in high demand, which always becomes more desirable. Whether they are whitepapers, free trials, memberships, sales promotions, or download, these irresistible elements can overcome a lead’s typical friction, doubt, or concern.

Gaining through scarcity tactic

Ever wondered how to convert most of your visitors into customers? With great offers!
A professional like OnlineLeads can help you generate the maximum number of leads through creating irresistible offers. This is an offer which ends by the end of this month.

Did this trigger a chord in your mind? Are you planning to call up Onlineleads immediately to avail the service? We are open to your requests at any point in time, including now.

However, what made you think about grabbing the offer immediately is the limited offer that triggered your mind. If you look at the principle of supply and demand, you will understand that when supply is limited, demand goes up. Scarcity usually has a psychological influence on us, making us want something even more if there isn't enough to go around. Scarcity is great because it creates a fear of shortage, and thus a sense of urgency.

Through limited time bound, quality bound, first come first serve basis, you are sure to gain in the number of leads. It’s not just the limited offer but the way this limited offer is positioned and marketed plays a major role in marketing. When offers end within a certain time frame, and have limited number of people who can buy makes big impact.

The route to successful lead generation

There are a number of ways of lead generation and every brand and every individual uses it according to their comfort. The comfort could be dependent on the cost, people, brand etc. But a lead generation process has a number of mechanics which makes it to stand out.

Lead generation being the most important part of any brand name’s customer base, high priority is given to this segment of marketing. OnlineLeads talks here about some of the most practical and tactical perspective, according to which a marketer needs four crucial elements to make inbound lead generation happen.
  • Offer
  • CTA
  • Landing page
  • Form
An offer is like the candy you show your customers so that you can lure them into buying knowing more about your company. This is a piece of content that is perceived of great value. Offers can include compelling ebooks, whitepapers, free consultations, coupons and product demonstrations. If this works, the rest just follows

A call-to-action (CTA) is the medium used to download or experience your offr. This could i=be in plain text, an image or a button that links directly to a landing page so people can find and download your offer.

A landing page, is a dedicated page which will explain your customers about the offer and not about you or your company. This is not a webpage, but a specialized page that contains information about one particular offer, and a form to download that offer.

Once you have your customers reach till your landing page, he has to take a decision. This decision can be captured when you have a form Forms will collect contact information from a visitor in exchange for the offer.

OnlineLeads is focused mainly at capturing a high number of leads in a less given time. Want to generate more leads for your company?
