Rules of Email Marketing - Part 2

You are aware of the first five thumb rules of your Email Marketing. The last five are crucial too as they help in ensuring that your mails are delivered to the inbox and not filtered off mid way.
The last five rules are

  1. To ensure that your mails are delivered, you may start your mail with message that says that ‘to ensure that you do not miss out on any of our mails, you may add our info@companyname.com to your address book.
  2. Avoid sending mails from names like info, subscribers, news, administrator etc. Try using names of people working with you and keep it consistent. A reader decides to open your mail or not in a fraction of a second. Unless your name is familiar to them, they will not open the mail.
  3. Some can receive only text messages and some HTML messages. Ensure that your messages are both in HTML as well as in text format.
  4. To ensure that your mails are not filtered by the spam filters, make sure that you do not use all caps and exclamation marks in your subject line.
  5. Build your list at every opportunity you have. Use sign up forms, call to action buttons and everything possible to ensure your customers come back to you.

  4. Not just the frequency, but also make sure that your mails do not reach your customers while they are planning their weekend. The best times to send your B2B mails is from Tuesday to Thursday, just when the day begins or just after the lunch break.
  5. However, the formulas change from B2B to B2C. when the mails are being sent to customers, you can send them post 5 pm till 8 pm and also during weekend.

Are you getting personal with your clients?

Don't you feel good when somebody talks to you by addressing your name. Similarly, just imagine all your conversations with your customers are addressed with their name. How good they would feel.

We have found that our best results in e-mail marketing are closely coupled to how well we customize the content. Based on the context, we use e-mail in a variety of ways. Primarily, we’re trying to help our users take the next step in their next purchase. For example, if buyers searched for and looked at an item but did not purchase it, the goal is to help them find a similar product and complete the transaction at very attractive price. If they lost something, we want to help them find another item like the one they lost at a great price.

There is, of course, a balance to be struck. Not every interaction can be entirely personalized; we would quickly be repeating the same message if we relied only on personalization. As a result, we mix personalized messages with popularity-based messages. Even here, though, we try to be targeted, letting buyers’ activity help us understand the best categories in which to recommend merchandise.

Making lead generation a cake walk

One of the biggest challenges faced by most marketers is that of generating high number of quantity as well as quality leads. A perfect lead generation engine is what keeps the funnel full of sales prospects even when you are in your deep sleep.

Surprisingly, only 1 in 10 marketers feel their lead generation campaigns are effective. There can be a lot of moving parts in any lead generation campaign and often times it’s difficult to know which parts need fine tuning.

OnlineLeads with its lead generation services can help companies to expose the top techniques marketers should utilize to increase leads and revenue. These tactics have been tested over the years and have been used by most of our clients.

So what goes into a best-of-class lead generation engine?

Can your marketing teams work in isolation?

You cannot generate leads when your teams are not working in sync with each other. You have to have all the teams working, if not at the same time, atleast in such a way that they support each other.

Along with the social media marketing what is more trending these days is the inbound marketing. Its when you create such compelling content that attracts your leads to land on your website. A proper analysis will help you om understanding what attracted whom to your website.

Many companies who took up this inbound marketing strategy, spent huge sum on getting people create attractive content. However, just with these content, you cannot generate all the online leads you expect on your site. You have to use some outbound marketing strategies to promote them on social mediums, and through advertising and promotion. With valuable content in your hand, advertising to promote that content is both effective and desirable.

Online leads works in getting both, inbound and outbound in sync.

Looking for someone to help you with both?

Listen to the marketing noise

Digital marketing is making a lot of noise in the field of marketing. Many of the trend setters have their own perspectives of what works and what fails. However, social media marketing is the one trending these days, for obvious reasons. Your target audience is either on a facebook or on twitter or on some other social media site. That’s where they are and that’s exactly where you have to be to connect with the right audience at the right time.

What works for one brand doesn’t actually work for the other. But when you get to learn what works for certain brands, it would be easier for you to sift through the options to decide on what do you want to implement on your site.

End of the day, it's the value a business can bring to consumers through the limitations of an experience. Whether it's the 140-character limit on Twitter, the 15-second limit on an Instagram video or the fact that content shared on Snapchat self-destructs, these features force companies to create a valuable moment within the confines of a community that is unique, interesting, educational, emotional, and hilarious or any combination of the previous.

You want a marketing strategy which is a combination of the above mentioned?

Which color do you choose?

There is a lot spoken about when it comes to the color of your blog. What does red represent, what does green indicate why is orange more catchier than any other color, blah blah. But just because they say the color Orange has high retention value when used for CTAs, do you use it all over the place and expect high leads online?

No. It doesn’t work that way. What about brands which have so many other colors, yet doing so well in brand building. For example, most delivery companies' color palettes are bright. UPS on the other hand is brown. They own brown in their category so much so that their color icon has become their slogan – 'What can brown do for you today?

It is neither a bright color, not a cute color. On the contrary, it’s quite a dull color, more earthy we could say, yet it works. Ultimately, you should be prepared to develop, monitor and constantly push your brand message in the marketplace. Your message should be simple and as consistent as possible in every marketing venue you choose to ensure that when people think of your brand that their perception is connected with your perception of your company.

The marketing vehicles for your brand

The best way to choose the communications vehicle is the one you're comfortable implementing and that will reach your intended audience. It really never matters if something has worked wonders for a different brand. Your marketing vehicle is decided by you alone. If you use something you are not comfortable with, you will not use them often enough to keep your brand top of mind.

Another aspect that business owners often overlook, is to think about how to maximize those brand communications activities that you currently use. If you are making a presentation in a conference, how can you use social media to publicize that event, get feedback on the content your audience would like to hear, and use that content in an enduring way after the live event (like video clips). or on the other hand, you just end up being almost everywhere, deliver your speech, hand out a few business cards, and cross your fingers that it turns into something. However, you have to decide what would actually work for your brand and not in general.

Apart from this, listed here are the other marketing vehicles you can use.
  • Public relations and publicity
  • Trade shows
  • Phone directories
  • Online (your website, blog, social media such as Twitter and Facebook, advertising)
  • Broadcast media (television, radio)
  • Print media (newspapers, magazines, specialty publications)
  • Print displays and direct mail (brochures, fliers, signage)
  • Professional assistance (consultants, designers, and agencies)

Enabling Email campaigns to work

Creating an email marketing campaign is easy, regardless of the skill level or experience one has. However, when opted for email marketing services, many of them include a wizard to help you through the creation of your email, newsletter or survey.

You can test and try its effectiveness, its appearance and deliverability, before you actually start the campaign. Wording and images help in ensuring that the email providers won't mark it as spam and that your subscribers won't find it in their junk mailboxes. Some direct email marketing services also link to popular social networking sites to maximize the reach of your email campaign.

However, these email marketing services are not helpful if they are not easy to use. It's important that you choose an email marketing service that is easy to use. Whether or not you know the ins and outs of email campaigns, HTML coding or how to use monitoring reports and statistics, the service you choose should provide the tools and explanations necessary to help you easily create an effective campaign.

If you are one of the email marketing service providers, you have to provide help options to get your clients started, include a user manual, a wizard to walk them through the creation and monitoring of their email campaign, FAQs, a blog, tutorials and articles that explain how to create effective campaigns. Support be provided to contact the company by email, phone or live chat.

Email marketing services are an excellent way for your business to regularly communicate with your email subscribers and customers. Regular newsletters and advertising email campaigns allows companies to grow their business effectively, and surveys give them valuable feedback and keep them on track.
